The Arctic Monkeys have come to define my Leeds Festival going experience so it is great to hear that they will once again be returning to headline the festival. From watching the band as a young university student struggling to make his way into a packed Carling Tent in 2005 to seeing there meteoric rise to mainstage fame the following year, they definitely were one of my Leeds bands where I can state I was there. The 1975 seem to be on every festival line up this year after there number 1 album, I don’t blame them on capitalising on there recent success especially after spending years performing smaller venues under Drive Like I Do, there songs certainly fit a festival stage and will surely provide many a sing-a-along moment. The Courteeners apparently were on hiatus in 2014 but I’m not really sure what that word means in today’s music oft over used but it could mean that Leeds is one of your only chances to catch them this year. I’m really enjoying Warpaint current track Love is to Die and can just imagine enjoying it in the sun (we can only hope) sipping a beer at festivals over the summer. It will be interesting to see, who will be this years breakthrough artists when more acts are announced later in the year.
