Last Thursday Artistic Echoes had the pleasure of being invited to Waxy O’Connors Open Mic Night in Manchester. I frequent various open mic nights as they are the perfect way of discovering new music, making a few contacts, all for free. That night though was a special occasion we had been invited by Concern Worldwide to give out a prize to the winning act; there was a whole host of different talent on stage from poets to acoustic performers to duo’s and it was a very difficult decision but in the end we decided that James Christy would win the prize. So he will feature at our Music Lowdown Sessions on the 11th April, we will film an interview, a couple of tracks from the set and record all the audio from the gig.
The event itself was very successful raising £150 for concern worldwide and for Tom Styles One Mountain, One Marathon Challenge. In April 2014, he will be running the Paris Marathon then on the 10 September 2014, he will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, with his friend Ross Williams.
They are doing this in the hope that they can raise a target of £10,000 for the charity, Concern Worldwide.
The money raised can and will save the lives of sons, daughters, mothers and fathers around the world whose families have been ripped apart or destroyed by disease, famine and drought.
