longevity last band standingBy the time of reading this the winners of ‘Last Band Standing 2014’ will have been announced. If you weren’t there you really missed out it was (most probably) the best night ever. Keep an eye out later in the year for the stirrings of ‘Last Band Standing 2015’. We are sure to be hosting a sequel to this years instalment so if you want to compete, we will be taking in applications from around august time.

To give you a reminder of who was competing, here are the bands and relevant links to their music…

Luna Marada– Massive sounds that rip through the room with hints of bands like rage against the machine and nirvana. Be sure to check them out on soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/luna-marada

The Farthingales– The next band through to the final from the second heat, a young indie rock band with smooth melody’s and smooth riffs that won the second heat, have a look at them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/trippingline?fref=ts

Vedanna- The winners of the last heat, described by our very own Rik as a band with an essence of Pearl Jam, surely that says a lot? Judge for yourselves… https://soundcloud.com/wearevedanna

The wildcards, these are the bands that won the online poll for a second chance to compete in the final…

The Call- Sweet crunching tones with sweet crunching vocals, they came second in the third heat but won the online poll. Have a look at their twitter… https://twitter.com/The_Call_Band

Florin– Smooth looking dudes from Macclesfield that can really play a tune or two, listen here… https://soundcloud.com/florinband

Give the bands a listen then a heads up to tell ‘em who sent you.

fab radio internationalOn Monday (7/04/14), some of the team from Longevity went down to FAB Radio International (http://www.fabradiointernational.com/) to give a quick interview about the final and the label with Paul Ripley on the Ripman Show. Paul Ripley was a judge on the night as well as critically acclaimed music photographer Karen McBride | Manchester music legend George Borowski | Ashley Burrage (co-founder of Headlander festival) | Darren Partington (current frontman of Big Unit, formerly of 808 State). Pretty sweet judging panel! Thanks to FAB for having us…

Also big thanks to Jason Cooke for having us on his show ‘Breakfast of Champions’ on All FM (http://allfm.org/) last Friday morning (11/04/14).

After the final, there was an after party at KRO bar across the road. Darren Partington (formerly of 808 state) gave a cracking live DJ set from 11:00pm till late to bring an end to this years battle of the bands. We’ve loads more going on throughout the year and a very busy summer line up. Keep a regular check on our website, www.longevityrecords.co.uk and social media, for updates on how you can come to our latest events.

The online poll for Kimberley Bo’s and Ben Jones band name has been decided…Bones! If you voted, thanks!

Till next time, goodbye. Liam Lynch, Longevity Records.
