Bluedot is an exciting new festival that is taking place at Jodrell Bank on 22-24th July, it will combine a mix of artists, speakers, scientists and performers to create a festival that is truly unique. Having studied Physics at University this festival melds two of my passions in to a great weekend of entertainment, and with the Jodrell Bank Telescope as a backdrop it should make for a special weekend.
Air, Brian Eno, Lanterns on the Lake, Helen Keen, The Clangers, Krysco, Marc Riley and many more join the line-up that includes headliners Underworld, Jean-Michel Jarre and Caribou.
Brian Eno has created a brand new artwork that has been designed specifically for Jodrell Bank. It is a unique projection piece that will be displayed across the Lovell Telescope.
Performing on the Orbit Stage, Be Play One is a unique mesmerizing collaboration between an artist, a scientist, half of Spirtualized and 40,000 real life bees, which promises to be something different from your typical festival experience.
Elsewhere on the Cosmic Culture programme there is a host of scientists, authors and comedians. Including sci-fi author Alan Garner; winner of the Hans Christian Andersen award, Helen Keen and her award winning Is It Rocket Science stand-up show and even an appearance from the Clangers.
As much as I have loved going to the larger festival’s like Glastonbury, Leeds and V festival it is always interesting to check out a festival that is a little different, that has it’s own unique identity and from the sounds of things Bluedot could be that festival.
Full weekend camping and day tickets are now on sale. Weekend tickets start from £129 and day tickets start from £35. The full bluedot programme will be announced in the coming weeks. More information can be found at:
