An unusual show today. We interview Viki Hamilton, the woman who developed and managed Guns & Roses and other punk and arena rock bands of the 80’s and 90’s, including touring with them and keeping the bad boys sane and more or less out of jail. As a top level A&R executive with Geffen Records and other firms, she specialized in developing and managing the wildest of bands like Poison and Fast Pussycat and country stars like June Carter Cash. Featured in the BBC series Born To Be Wild, The Golden Age Of American Rock, Hamilton has stories to tell.
Then we shift to Stick Against Stone, a nomadic musical collective from Brooklyn NYC that has never recorded an album until now but that has a huge following and is considered by many music critics as one of the most creative musical forces in American pop music. Mashing up funk, dub ballads, pulsing samba, Afrobeat juice and post-punk rock they are a sight and sound to behold and we will talk with them about making an album from songs they wrote in the 80’s that are fresh today.
