Bluedot Festival is an award-winning festival of discovery in the grounds of a deep space observatory and is a unique highlight of the summer festival calendar. Set against the truly awe inspiring backdrop of the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank. Taking place from 19th -22nd July Bluedot combines music with a ground-breaking programme of live science experiments, expert talks and immersive artworks.
Friday night see The Flaming Lips return to Jodrell Bank having performed seven years ago at the very first show produced there. With fittingly anthemic lines such as ‘look out into space, it surrounds you’ & ‘Two scientists are racing, for the good of all man kind.’ It is the perfect stage for The Flaming Lips and will be a night to remember.
Future Islands have gone from cult favourites to synthpop icons and breakout singles such as ‘Seasons (Waiting on You)’ are sure to be a highlight of their Saturday Night Performance on the Lovell Stage.
This year The Chemical Brothers are bringing their brand new live show to Bluedot Festival and this will be the first UK date to see it. With twenty years of genre defining music and stunning visual arts from Adam Smith this will be a special way to cap the festival of on Sunday evening.
Plus with acts such as Public Service Broadcasting, Unkle, Gary Numan, Lamb, Little Dragon and George Fitzgerald it is set to be a packed weekend of live music.
Bluedot Festival isn’t only a bout the music with talks ranging from “Does Life Need Quantum Mechanical” to “Splitting The Life Fantastic” and “Stupid Apes – Is The War Always Inevitable?”. There are a whole variety of talks to entice many an inquisitive mind.
There is also a variety of activities for families with Big Little Fish bringing their Family Raves to the festival, Board Games and Physics, Exploring Mars taking you on a tour of the red planet and Robot Rap.
