Macclesfield Festival is back with a diverse lineup to suit all music tastes and it is packed with a whole variety of activities suitable for the whole family. Taking place at Macclesfield Rugby Club the festival has attracted some star names including Happy Mondays, Tom Hingley & The Kar-Pets and Macclesfield’s own The Virginmarys.
The people of Macclesfield will be able to relive the heydays of Madchester as the Happy Monday’s are touring to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their ‘Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out) ‘ album.
The Virginmarys will be performing at their first home town gig in years, having toured the world and played at some of the UK’s biggest festivals including the main stage at Leeds Festival. This will be a treat for the Macclesfield faithful, who will be hoping to catch a few tracks from their new album along with a host of classics.
At first glance you could mistake Tom Hingley & The Kar-Pets for a tribute band, but with Tom Hingley the lead singer of the original Inspiral Carpets from (1989-2011) they are a tribute band with a difference. With hits such as This is How it Feels, Saturn Five, Dragging Me Down and I Want You they are sure to entertain.
There is loads more music to enjoy with Shola Ama bringing the R&B Hits, up and coming indie act The Rainband, electro dance from Apollo Junction, indie pop punk from Puppet Theory and Manchester Ska Foundation will get you partying in the sunshine.
There is also tonnes of activities to keep the kids entertained with CBeebies Star Mr Bloom, Award winning magic from Andrew Green, The Klazomaniacs, a Princess Show, Superhero Show and for all you Star Wars fans the Northwest Garrison will be in attendance. Along with The Dance Academy, Golf Course, Giant Funfair, Zorbing, Nerf Shooting Range, Face Painting, Arts and Craft Teepees, Pony Trekking and Soft Play Area.
For those people that like a bit of a boogie there are three dance tents including Casa De La Musica, Lovedecade and a Funk & Soul Tent. Casa De La Musica brings nothing but quality house/soulful & disco to the festival. It is ran by DJ and Producer Jon Fitz who is an Ibiza regular at clubs like Pacha, Space, Es Paradis and El Divino. So head to Casa De La Musica for the sounds of The White Isle at Macclesfield Festival.
