Rock, Soul, Acoustic, Punk, Electronica, our Sunday at Sonder Festival certainly showcased a diverse range of music.
Camens
Camens had the difficult task of opening The Ruby Lounge on the final day of Sonder Festival, when it’s a sunny Sunday evening I’m sure most people were outside with a pint enjoying the last of the sunshine. So even though they were playing mostly to other bands and a couple of members of the press Camens from stoke-on-trent played with energy and determination with some solid rock tracks.
Ben Fenner
We only managed to catch the last couple of tracks of Ben Fenner but he was playing to a packed crowd in Gullivers and his brand of soul, pop, singer/songwriter was certainly entertaining.
Katie O’Malley
Katie O’Malley wowed the crowd with her wistful, enchanting vocal over a delicately picked guitar, she was subtly backed by drums, keys and bass. The crowd at Gullivers was so silent and attentive throughout that you could probably hear a pin drop.
Liines
Liines struck you with a wall of noise their powerful post punk, hit you with throbbing bass lines, harsh guitar and piercing vocals. A great contrast to Katie O’Malley’s and it was good to rock out for a while with them on a Sunday evening. XTALK
We ended the festival where we began back in the Soup Kitchen to watch XTALK, over the years I have seen Sarah de Warren of XTALK develop from a reflective and soulful singer-songwriter into a full blown electronic dance act. XTALK has merged Sarah de Warren’s introspective songwriting with Feri Gyemant music production and they are already getting noticed with a performance at Kendall Calling and being shortlisted to play Glastonbury 2016.
