When an artist is able to take their own pain, fear and suffering and turn it into a song and then send it out to the world to support others going through the same thing – that’s the mark of a true star.
Charlie Millikin was born into a musical family and started performing for family & friends at the age of six. Once he picked up a guitar at age 18, there was no looking back. But even with the support of the many musicians around him, Charlie suffers from severe anxiety, which causes immobilizing panic attacks at times. Instead of allowing his fears to conquer him, the tenacious singer focuses all that energy into music. The official music video for “All These Things” was just released last month – a song that Charlie wrote a couple years ago after suffering a severe panic attack just before going onstage. Charlie says, “I really wanted to try and put those feelings into this song.”
Approximately 30% of the population reported having a panic attack in the last year. Between 12 and 20 million people in the United States suffer with panic attacks at some time. In addition to prescribed treatments, the sufferer also needs understanding and community awareness of this issue. Just knowing there are others who experience these episodes, in and of itself, can have a calming effect and that’s where Charlie’s music comes in.
Charlie is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of “All These Things” to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation. THANK YOU Charlie Millikin for putting into song, what so many people in our world cannot express. In the end, we all know we’re gonna be alright.
