For those people that haven’t heard you before could you tell us a bit about yourselves your story?
We are a band from Delhi, India formed around 6 years back. Started of as more of an alternate band, but have gradually evolved our own sound. It just started out of passion, none of us were musicians by profession or had some musical training, but we could see that audiences liked our music & live performances, so we just carried on!
Who inspired you to get on stage and perform?
Well a big thanks goes to our manager, Teejay, for pushing us and making avenues for us. Even though the scope was less, he managed to get us into the scene. Now we’ve established ourselves pretty well, but there’s still a long way to go from here.
Your lyrics have quite a dark, noir tone to them where do you draw inspiration from when writing?
The gloom & sombre is a part of who we are. Even when we want to make happy music, the lyrics are sad & dark, somehow hard-hitting and pertaining to real life situations. It has to have some deeper meaning rather than just good vibes, and stick with the person who hears our songs.
Could you tell us a bit about the writing/recording of the Songdew competition winning track Fading?
Fading was actually the first track we wrote & recorded. It features our friend Shruti Krishnan on vocals along with the lineup. One of our most popular songs from the first album, it screams a different mindset, a distinct perspective of the protagonist. He does not want to blend in, wants to express who he is & is choked by what the world wants him to be. Its a tirade, a mutiny against the beliefs in which we are made to strive against our will.
You recently released a new EP New Moonglasses could you tell us about that?
The Moonglasses EP: What is the cost of love? The EP offers a granular view at the negative connotation of love & its implicit repercussions. The protagonist questions realism, identity, rationale & ambition on his journey through this musical landscape.
‘Crush before use’ is an earnest appeal to his companion to break free from his seamless adoration & pursue her unfulfilled dreams. The protagonist does not want to impose his individuality on them. He matters. She matters. That’s why they matter. Too much love can smother the euphoria of being together. Moonglasses centers on his defiance to such a profound love, rooting from his proclivity to uncertainty & his fear of dependence, more so than just a notion of balancing.
Cut to the last track Sad Paulie, where he is reminiscing the old times. Memories float like the clouds; there is no bad taste, but a sense of repose & a familiar ache in the mind when he relives his unrequited love.
Where is the most interesting place that you have performed?

What do think is missing from today’s music industry?
No support to the local unsigned musicians, apart from few startups and blogs that do their bit. Some record labels are able to support but not for long, as they themselves cant hit the big ones. The audiences are also not educated enough and rather go for a big foreign act (that might be okayish), rather than support a local band that is phenomenal; I think that comes down to marketing by big labels.

What plans do you have for the rest of the year?
Looking for 5-6 city india tour, and Malaysia (3-4 city) as well. Tap some indie music festivals that support our vibe & get on various Radio stations across Europe (we’re already playing across 8 countries)!
