From The Mic Stand – Folk Americana From Katie O’Malley

Katie O’Malley performs live From The Mic Stand and chats about her inspirations, influences and songwriting.

Katie O’Malley and her hip-swaying country/blues band have played across the country at numerous shows and festivals.
A familiar face on the Manchester acoustic scene, she has played alongside Aziz Ibrahim (stone roses/simply red) supported country star Kimmie Rhodes and worked with award winning producer Simon Dine (Paul Weller, Noonday Underground.)

“Never Be the Same” is the title of her upcoming e.p, for Katie it represents her thoughts and constant self assessment you achieve through writing. The emotions we experience from being human, whether they are good or bad. A growth from her last e.p” Dawn Chorus” which was a more airy based folk/production, with the help she has had from the musicians she has surrounded herself with she has been able to achieve a sound she says is a stronger representation of her soul & blues influence she experienced singing growing up.
