For those people that haven’t heard of JNCTRE before could tell us a bit about the band, your story?
JNCTRE are an electronic duo from the heart of England. Made up of Dan Gallagher and George Deley, the two met in college and instantly bonded over a mutual love of music but it wasn’t until early 2016 that they decided to sit down and write their own music together. What started as a bedroom project trying to fuse electronic, Neo-soul, blues and dark pop, suddenly began to take a more serious role in their life after the release of their first EP “None Of Us A New”. They received an amazing response to the EP and even had the chance to play their 4th show for Radio 1 and T In The Park. Since then JNCTRE has been working hard on developing their sound, increasing their fanbase across the country and playing some amazing shows along the way.
Who inspired you to get on stage and perform?
I think for both of use it could be a multitude of bands and artists. I was into hard rock growing up which, later developed into rap and electronic music. But Dan was more into the blues, rock and soul side of things. I think if you listen carefully to the music you can hear elements of all those genres. But I feel that I can safely say that A band called “Mute Math” had probably the biggest combined influence on us and their live shows are one of the main reasons we’ve always wanted to play live. If you haven’t seen them I recommend watching a song called “Reset’ on Youtube!
Which artists and albums have really influenced your sound?
Like I said above we take our influences from everywhere but if I was to list a few key one’s I think it would be Nao, Mute Math, Honne, The Weeknd, John Mayor and The Neighbourhood. Honestly the list could go on and on but those are some of the key players.
Could you tell us a bit about the writing/recording of SYNCR music winning track “Loosen Up” ?
Errmmmm yes… I feel without being to obvious and getting people into trouble, I can give a vague idea of what the songs about. We like our songs to be written with meaning behind them and more often that not we take influences from real life situations. “Loosen Up” is written about a certain person that’s now not involved in our lives. The song really just paints a picture of the feelings around that person and how they came to not be involved with us anymore. (Hope thats not to vague) We recorded it the same as we do all our songs at our “home studio”. All of our songs are written recorded and mixed by us.
Do you have any plans to release a new album or EP?
Maybe I don’t want to say anything just yet but yes it maybe in the works.
This one is easy. It was a while back now but being able to play the BBC Introducing stage at T In The Park was an amazing moment. We have always wanted to play a major festival and to get the chance so early into our career was amazing.
What do you think is missing from the music industry?
Without being too obvious, I think our answer would be money. Especially monetary support for smaller bands to help give them that push that so many need. On a side note when we were thinking about this question, we also thought that it would be amazing if bigger touring bands were made to choose a local band for their first support slot in whatever city they should be in. Whether it be thought BBC introducing or another format. Imagine how many local bands that could help to get heard
Here at Artistic Echoes, we are always on the lookout for new artists do you have anyone to recommend?
“Wayde” are an amazing band from Essex, they have a wicked sound and are completely underrated. “George Gretton” is also amazing, he is from Nottingham and has an amazing live show.
What plans do you have for the rest of the year?
We have a single coming out very soon for the summer and then we are playing a few shows throughout the summer. We are also working on a lot of songs and we are going to take some timeout during the summer to accumulate them into something hopefully a bit special.
