Francisca Valenzuela is an American-born Chilean singer, poet, fashion designer, activist and multi-instrumentalist. Born and raised in San Francisco, California, where she resided until the age of 12, before moving to Santiago, Chile, she gained to popularity in Chile and Latin America, following the release of her debut album, Muérdete La Lengua in June 2007. Her second album, Buen Soldado followed in March 2011. Valenzuela has earned both gold and platinum album certification in Chile. She has continued to grow as an artist beyond poetry and music in fashion with her own lines of clothing and accessories, activism as the founder and director of Ruidosa, the first Latinx interdisciplinary feminist festival, which was founded in 2016 and also serves as a digital platform that celebrates outstanding women in the art scene. Valenzuela performs worldwide ND Has shared staged with some of today’s most influential and iconic musicians such as Miguel Bosé, Pablo Alborán, Natalia Lafourcade and the legendary rock group, U2. She has just released her latest studio album, la Fortaleza to estatic reviews. We talked with her earlier this week from Los Angeles.
