Review: The Assist – Life

LIFE” is the new single from The Assist – a concept track that has a nice Electronic Rock vibe.  The guitars on this track are lit and can walk alone, but the unapologetic lead vocals and those crack-concrete-percussions just makes it AWESOME!  In general, the song is about being aware of your surroundings, and awakening so to speak, letting ones know not to cheat themselves from living their best life by focusing too much on the trials and demands.  The frontman sings: “I try to make my life easy, but then I get too bored.  The trick to giving your life meaning is to challenge yourself more.  I try to make my life easy . . . the trick to give your life meaning is to know when to let go.”

The Assist’s production of the track creates wonderful imagery that makes the listener not only listen but also makes them want to react.  In addition, the lyrical structure and vocal prowess of the frontman makes the track appeal to Hard Rockers and Alt. Rockers alike with his abrasive, yet slickly smooth, approach which is strong and impressive.  The compressed airy guitar in the background slowly modulates adding layers and a texture that creates a threading melody that is an infectious hook by itself.  Within 5 minutes, this band was able to get the attention of the masses and lyrically speak on the matters of the heart, society, and globe.

That guitar infused bridge that dominates at the four minutes / ten seconds mark is nothing short of smokin!  The addition of the organ, FX, and synths just ignites it even more.  And that conclusion is just wicked!  It’s a musical wave that you do not want to jump off.

Yes, we are living in tumultuous times, and unfortunately, our society remembers the dates of catastrophic events and dates of pivotal points on our globe.  So, we will remember 2020, but it is great a song like “LIFE” was here to soften the blow and spread a positive message to attach the awareness of healing, moving forward, and living your best life during a time in history where we all had to come together.  “LIFE” is proof that while whispering gets the attention of one, and speaking through a bullhorn next to many may get the attention of some, it is the person who stands on the top of the tallest building and shouts out loud, that gets the attention of everyone – that is what The Assist has done with their latest song “LIFE.”  As The Assist sings:  count down, don’t make a sound, no matter how you feel, you’ll come around to the force that I preach within my melody.
