How have you been coping with the lockdown, have you managed to still be creative?
We were about to record a new single just as the lockdown was declared. After a three month wait, we finally got into the studio last week and recorded a new song. It’s still to have a final mix and be mastered. We are planning for a release date in mid-August. Tom has also been learning keyboards and together with Jay, they have been recording demo tracks.
Could you tell us a bit about the story behind Little Triggers, how did you guys start?
Tom put the band together while studying at the Liverpool Media Academy. when sitting in on guitar for another local band, Tom met Jay who was drumming for them. He promptly nicked him for Little Triggers! The band had an amicable parting of the ways with the second guitarist and bass player in October last year. Our first instinct was to look for a new bass player but we played around with our set and rearranged the songs for a duo and it sounded great. We then turned up for a gig in Bristol in early December and didn’t tell the promoter we were now a duo. They were a little worried at first as we were headlining! The support band were great and really got the crowd up for it. The second we started there was a moshpit going on and the crowd loved it. The promoter tweeted that we made the BIGGEST (his caps) sound two people could make. We were immediately invited back but that’s another date that has hit the Covid dust.
Which artists and albums have inspired your style?
Steve Marriott of Small Faces and Humble Pie is a huge hero, Hendrix too obviously. As far as drummers go, there is only one John Bonham.
Who inspired you to get on stage and perform?
Tom saw a Beatles tribute band perform when he was ten and heard them play Chuck Berry numbers. That sealed his future and he has been playing in bands since he was fourteen.
I think you have done a great job of translating the energy of the stage into your ReverbNation winning track Bang, could you tell us a bit about the writing and recording of the single?
The song started out as a big riff. This was the first song of ours deliberately created as a single and our producer, Al Groves, came along to our practice room to hear early versions of three new songs and Bang was the one he thought had most potential.. Al is a very hands on producer and he helped flesh out the song and was crucial in making it what it is – a real banger!
What have been some of your most memorable performances and what are some of your favourite places to perform?
We opened the show for Temples at the Zanzibar Club in Liverpool a couple of weeks before lockdown. We love the venue, it’s our Liverpool home. we’ve played there loads of times. Tony, who used to run it was a real champion of young bands. He sadly passed away but the new management are keeping the flame alive. The place was packed and there was a real buzz of anticipation as we walked onstage. Nothing beats that. Another memorable night was in France where we played to 3,000 at a festival near Poitiers. We had girls jumping onstage to dance, guys stage diving and it all ended with a mass stage invasion for the encore.

Two Liverpool bands, The Heavy North and Red Rum Club and The Daybreakers from London.
What plans do you have for the rest of the year?
We will release our new single in August. It will form a cycle of four songs which we will release as an EP towards the end of the year. We have been asked to join a tour planned for late September/October but who knows what is going to happen about live music. We are booked to open the rearranged Hard Rock Hell ABC festival in November. It’s already a sell-out with 4,000 tickets sold. We had planned a trip back to France for a tour this summer and it would be great if we could squeeze in a short tour before the end of the year, who knows!
