Irene Diaz to release a new album and you will love it

Throughout her life, Irene Diaz has always been searching for identity and for a creative community and direction that best serves her message of love. A classically trained pianist raised in Los Angeles’ Highland Park neighborhood in a devoted Christian household she was introduced to Amy Grant and “various Christian artists” by her guitarist father.   But as she discovered her true self and the love of women, Diaz ultimately pulled away from her religious faith and devoted herself to music, especially after being introduced to the music of Nina Simone, Nick Drake and others. She developed her own style, release many songs and an EP, and built a large, devoted following.  As Diaz’s repertoire grew, some of tracks for her soon to be released album, Lovers & Friendsbegan to take shape. The lead single  “Another Observer,”  which has been released via Cosmica Records, grew out of an unrequited crush on another woman in 2010. The album began to take shape when Diaz connected with Latin Grammy award-winner singer-songwriter Carla Morrison who executive-produced Lovers & Friends and introduced Diaz to brothers Alejandro and Demian Jimenez, a Mexico City-based duo that produced the album.
