Artistic Echoes Mixtape – Biscay, Gurli Octavia, Graywave, Suchy Sha

Biscay – The Fire Below

I thought I would kick off the return to this series with the upbeat and positive single from Biscay, The Fire Below. We interviewed the band last year as part of our ReverbNation Competition and I just love their mix of Jazz and Funk it is simply addictive. The song is all about realising your true potential by finding your true passion and igniting your ‘Fire Below’ it is something as an artist myself I can definitely relate to.

Gurli Octavia – X-Ray

X-Ray is the new single from Danish artist Gurli Octavia that comes from her eagerly anticipated debut album ‘I Could Be Blossoming Instead‘ which will be out digitally on the 29th January and available on double vinyl with bonus tracks on the 5th February. It follows 3 EP’s that have 1.5 million Spotify streams to date. If X-Ray is anything to go by then this will be one to check out, the single is breathtaking, all at once uplifting and inspiring whilst it deftly deals with quite personal topics.

Gray Wave – Before

If rather than being uplifted you are looking for a song that fits the desolation of these current times then the new single by Graywave, ‘Before’ will be perfect for you. It is the second single to be released off of her upcoming debut EP ‘Planetary Shift’. The song sonically recreates a desolate landscape with Graywave almost howling against the tide of uncertainty coming against her. As she says

“Before’ tackles the subject of anxiety and the feeling of regression. It is about the realisation that you cannot always escape negative feelings and events. This song was a way to express how I feel when I get particularly anxious and start thinking about all the negatives in my life and the world – expressing that through lyrics and music really helped me deal with it.”

Suchy Sha – Lets Talk

Suchy Sha handles well the often difficult task of creating a track that is both captivating musically and that still manages to get across a very important message, so often one of the two is lost. Her hip hop track Let’s Talk was created to raise money for the mental health charity ‘Mind Your Music’ which promotes better mental health through the creation and performance of music. The song focuses around suicide, with the video which you can see above features people who have lost loved ones through the ‘brain pain’.
