For those people who haven’t heard of Undecided Future could you tell us a bit about the band and your story?
Undecided Future was formed in 2012 at Orange County School of the Arts, Santa Ana, CA where we all met in Middle/High School. We started writing and performing songs in middle school. We started off more as a Ska-Reggae type band but later found our groove in the R&B, Funk, Pop, and Soul vibe. As we wrote, performed, and developed our sound we won several awards along the way. Then by 11th grade started playing at Disney California Adventure until we turned 18 then could play and get paid at Downtown Disney, among a whole list of other venues. Now we’re playing on the Virgin Voyage Cruise line. So crazy!
Who inspired you to get on stage and perform?
Matt’s dad was a singer in a band, Cole, Nick & Chris started playing their instruments in 3rd grade, out of pure passion and Matisse’s dad is a professional percussionist/drummer with Herb Alpert but had been with Marc Anthony, and Jennifer Lopez, Air Supply, EW&F and more, so Matisse was born a drummer.
Are there any artists/albums that inspired your sound and stuck with you?
Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and a whole lot more. In High School so we learned to play various Pop/Rock/R&B/Jazz/Flamenco & Classical music. We have a lot of personal favorites in those Genres and have a wide range of styles we can incorporate into our songs.

Could you tell us a bit about the writing/recording of the ReverbNation Competition winning competition track “Runaway”?
Runaway was written a few years ago at an apartment at USC. It’s about not letting the pressure of life get to you and if it does, you can run away with me. It wasn’t written about anyone in imparticular, just in general we thought it was something a lot of people could connect to. We then took it to Dem Joinz our producer in LA to dial it up for us. We recently dropped a live video we made of the song on YouTube.
What have been some of your favourite places to perform?
Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel pool for a corporate event was pretty cool in 11th grade, performing at YouTube Studios with Jason Derulo & Ludacris when we won Best.Cover.Ever., a Ryan Seacrest YouTube series, that was exciting. But our hometown venues in Southern California and Downtown Disney bring out our local fans, those are always great gigs.
What has been your best experience as a band?
Being together for over 10 years now and we’re 24-26 years old. Seems like we’ve lived a full music life, but it’s only gotten started! We most recently have been producing our songs with Dem Jointz, and not only got to meet and hang with Dr. Dre, but when our producer got married last year, the wedding was at Dre’s house. It was the same night that we were supposed to get on a plane to fly to Miami. We did make our flight, but that was a whirlwind of a night changing from tuxedos in the car to our street clothes on the sidewalk in front of the Delta terminal! I’m sure a lot of people wanted to know what the heck we were doing. Thankfully we didn’t get arrested!

Do you have any plans for an EP or an album?
We constantly releasing songs, and are working on a new song now, we just shot the video for it a few weeks ago. It will be released very soon. We also have an opportunity to write for a celebrity artist and be featured on the song. So that will be interesting and rewarding we hope.
Here at Artistic Echoes, we are always on the lookout for new artists do you have any to recommend?
Check out our high school homies…. Robbie Dean solo artist, a Jazz/Rap band called Apple Bebop, and a RUSH cover band called Mood Lifters, with Rocky Kuner on Lead Vocals. She’s amazing.
What plans do you have for the rest of the year?
We’re leaving on our three gigs this year for Virgin Voyage Cruise line. May 13 for Barcelona, Spain for our 30-day work cruise to Italy, France, and Spain, then on October 5 to Athens to Dubai, and December 24th for Christmas and New Year’s Eve gigs out of Miami. We had a great time last year playing on the ship and going International will be the time of our lives.
