For those who haven’t heard of ‘Up From Here’ before could you tell us a bit about the band?
We are a three piece pop punk band from Tampa, Florida. We formed in 2015 over our mutual love for this genre of music and our goal is to create the music we love for our fans to enjoy.
Who inspired you to get on stage and perform?
All three of us have been playing instruments from a very young age and have all wanted to be musicians since we were little kids. We believe we were destined to rock and roll.
What artists and albums have stuck with you and inspired your sound?
Some of our favorite albums are From Under The Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge by My Chemical Romance, and Boys Like Girls’ self-titled album, among many others.
Where do you write your music, are you someone always coming up with song ideas?
I think a strong suit of Up From Here is that we are constantly writing. We have way too many songs written for the future as well as way too many songs that didn’t even make it onto records from the past. We write our music in our home studio in Tampa.
Please tell us about the writing/recording of the ReverbNation Competition winning track “Another Weakness”?
We recorded Another Weakness in Nashville, Tennessee with producers Rian Dawson and Dan Swank. It was the first song we had recorded with proper production at the time and has a lot of extra features (auxiliary instruments, gang vocals, etc) that our previous releases with a more raw sound did not have.
What has been your favourite experience as a musician?
Getting to travel the country and live the “DIY rockstar” life of sleeping in a van and playing bars every night. Prior to touring, our band had not done much travelling in the first place. We would really like to get back out on the road as soon as possible.
Do you have any plans for an EP or an album?
Yes! We were in the studio recording new music this past summer. Keep your eyes peeled as those should be released soon.
What is the most memorable place you have performed?
We got to play the Tampa/St Petersburg dates of the Vans Warped Tour in 2015, 2017, and 2018. We got to play the main stage in 2017 and it was incredible. We see they are supposedly bringing back the Warped Tour in 2025, so maybe we can convince them to let us play more of it then.
