Xoe Wise is a Chicago-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer originally from a small town in NC. Her music ranges from folk to rock, to electronic and her forthcoming album, Air, features her folk songs enriched with horns by Martin Wenk and string and synth arrangements and production by Wise and Minterm. Xoe began playing music around 8 years old and later as a triangle player for a local Zydeco band. She went on to playing flute and guitar and wrote her first song for a baby goat on the outer banks of NC as music became a refuge for a young queer artist looking for ways to heal. At 18 she moved to Chicago to pursue music and study psychology and later studying music, and working on films such as Jupiter Ascending, Cloud Atlas, and Sense8. Xoe has also been seen and heard in Netflix shows such as Sense8, and Showtimes Work in Progres, and she was an NPR Newsong finalist. She starts graduate school this fall for social work at the University of Chicago, and she is developing songwriting programs for Chicago LGBTQ youth that help inspire self-exploration – part of her Heal Thru Sound program that utilizes artistic sound composition as a creative path toward healing. And she makes homemade hot sauce.
