For those people that haven’t heard of you before could you tell us a bit about yourself?
Tiffany Twisted grew out of a desperate need for expression and has always been fuelled by the anger and hope of Rock N Roll. You’re going to find some really nostalgic stuff recorded live from Abbey Road Studios but you’ll also find that quite a lot of Groove Metal and Nu-Metal has creeped in since then, along with some sweet trap beats so it’s gotta be worth a listen!
Who inspired you to get on stage and perform?
Ever since I was a teenager one of the most therapeutic things I could do was go to gigs and watch bands completely let go on stage and those guys really inspired me to get myself out there. The energy transfer between artists and fans can be so electric and to see people leaving venues like they just had the best night of their lives made me think that that was exactly what I wanted to give people.
Are there any artists or albums that have stuck with you and informed your sound?
I am generally quite ritualistic with music and I do tend to listen to a lot of the same bands I was listening to ten years ago! A Day To Remember were one of the first ones I got really attached to and there isn’t a track of theirs yet that I haven’t loved or been inspired by. Foo Fighters’ ‘Wasting Light’ album also played an important role as I always felt it struck such a nice balance combining Dave Grohl’s story-telling vocals with those gritty, driving guitar riffs.
Could you tell us a bit about your writing process?
My writing process has certainly changed with time. I began with just a piano and vocals for many many years, which later grew to working with my previous guitarist starting with riffs and building a track around that, and now everything is done from my home studio, using whatever instruments and VSTs take my fancy. Once I’ve laid everything down I tend to freestyle over the track until something really sticks and then I try to not edit the lyrics much more than that.
Could you tell us a bit about the writing/recording of the Songdew Music Winning track 333?
‘333’ was a track that had been on the back burner for a few months with just its skeleton recorded up at the time, but after playing it live people were asking where they could hear it and so it started to take real form after that. The recording process this time had a lot of added excitement having a featured artist because you get to hear their interpretation of the music and what feelings it actually brought up for them.
Do you have any plans for an album or EP?
A full album release has been on my mind for a little while and the discography for that keeps on growing so it’s definitely on the cards for the coming year or so but the sound is evolving significantly and very much has done recently so I think an EP representing exactly where Tiffany Twisted is right now is the first step for 2023.
What are some of your favourite venues to perform at?
My favourite venue to perform at has got to be The Black Heart in Camden. The Troubadour is also a great spot with a load of history but The Black Heart still really feels like an untouched gem for rock and people definitely go there to mosh!
Here at Artistic Echoes, we are always on the lookout for new artists do you have anyone to recommend?
There are a couple of really exciting artists on the rise at the moment. Everyone should definitely check out SUMMER ALONE who features on ‘333’ and also EMOtional Xan is someone I have recently been introduced to and he’s definitely worth a listen to.
What plans do you have for 2023?
There is a new single about ready for release in the next few months and the plan is certainly to continue collaborating and releasing with other artists this year.
